The 202 is Zebco's small, inexpensive push-button spincast reel, introduced in 1961 as the 'ZeeBee' and still sold today. It is the reel generations of children were handed on their first fishing trip, and it works on the same principle as the larger 33: a fixed spool inside a closed cone, with a thumb button that releases the line on the cast.
It is the cheapest classic in this catalogue. Our latest snapshot found about 46 listings, most selling for $12 to $25 delivered.
Early ZeeBee 202s with a metal foot, green or cream colours, and new-in-box examples are the collectible ones; the 1999 50th-anniversary and late-1980s all-black editions are fun but common. For a child's first reel, any tested 202 will do, and a little oil is usually all an old one needs.
